Purple Trails

Here’s a new song I recorded this past weekend.  The main chordal, reedy sounding instrument is a “Magnus Super De Luxe Electric Chord Organ” (not as fancy as it sounds), which is very out of tune, so all the other instruments were tuned up to that (more or less).  The rhythmic intro (it continues through the song) is me just hitting my lap.  It’s also got some trumpets, guitar, keyboards, and drum set.  The melody was doubled with a slide whistle which is why it’s not always on the right notes, but the bends and slides sound cool between the notes.  It sounds like a sloppy penny whistle.  I also suggest to listen on head phones if you can.

New Instrumental

Here is a new instrumental called “cloud covers”.
I tampered with some vocals on it but I think it’s much cooler as an instrumental.  I also used just about everything I could find in my room that made noise.
I suppose that’s all for now.

Bring it on Home to Me

Here is the second cover I’ve recorded. It’ s a version of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home To Me”.

Check out the original if you haven’t heard it because it’s a bit more soulful, but this was fun to make.

AND… In Celebration of it’s 5th year anniversary, below you will find a new version of a song that was originally released on my first album “Hmm… That’s Weird You’re Fat” (July 2004) under the name Bryan Rock. I originally recorded it when I was 17.  It is called “Cleo” and is about a very special someone that had a starring role in the movie Station Agent. The lyrics morph her character with a different lady that made an appearance on the hit show Blind Date. She had an obsession for pork rinds. Well I’ll let the song speak for itself.  Maybe I’ll get that album up on here soon.

05_05_38 so here’s a song that I just recorded this weekend. It’s a rock-n-roll version of a song that’s going to be released on the upcoming studio album, and it’s called “I’m Still in Love With that Night”.
The album version of this song is way different which is why it’s only a semi-sneak peak at the album.
But I hope you enjoy it.
thanks for listening

2caa54a7-b08c-41da-b892-3a41abe778beSo I just got my home recording studio set up.  I spent the day recording this song in order to test out all the equipment.  It is a cover of the Jimmy Cliff song “Under the Sun, Moon and Stars”.  If you haven’t heard the original I suggest you check it out.  It’s awesome.  I think that it was originally recorded in 1977.

004this second track is one that Ryan recorded while he was visiting.  I’ve finally gotten the chance to finish it, so here it is.  Not sure what he calls this song.  It also features Brendaddy.

Here is the final song that I’ve recorded as part of the Lumpy Demos 2. It is called “It’s Times Like These”. This set of demos is now done because Kabby is returning from Japan and taking back his recording equipment that he let me borrow while he was away.
But that also means that work on the REAL album will pick back up when I return in 2 weeks.

Okay, hope you enjoy

Greetings from Santa Fe!

Work on the studio album is on a temporary break until June.  However, 98% of tracking is now done which means it’s mainly mixing left.  The plan is to be done around august.  The album will be called “From Wilderness Cove”, named after my current residence.  It’s where the album songs were written and some of the tracking was done here too.
In the meantime I have been working on some new demos, two of which are now online.  So check them out.  The songs are “Gray Light” and “What Does it Take”.  More demos will be coming within the next couple of weeks so check for that.

“Gray Light”

“What Does it Take?”

if those players don’t work, you can also stream them at www.myspace.com/lumpyrecordings

I’ll be going to California in May to play some shows with The Blacklight Soul and Gorilla Thrilla, so if you are around check that out

enjoy and thanks for listening
